Awesome slice of Earth Wind and Fire style 80's Philly soul, best known for 'Release the Beast' which Daft Punk fans bang on about everywhere. Bet they don't know it was actually sampled by rapper MURS on Murs 3:16: The 9th Edition first. Originally released on Arista (AB 4264 SA) in 1980. To this day, Breakwater remain a relatively unknown band, despite the cover to this album, which has to be one the best I've ever seen. Spread the word!

Kelenkye Band - Moving Worlds
I don't know much about this amazing slice of Ghana funk, save to say it was released on Emporium, 1974, and is rare as proverbial rocking horse shit. There's a few compilations out there with one or two tracks on such as Bilongo Vol. 2 but just check 'Jungle Music' for the utter genius of this band.
Tracklisting:
1 - Brotherhood of Man
2 - Dracular Dance
3 - Groovy Love
4 - Jungle Music
5 - Kelenkye
6 - Moving World
7 - No one is Born to Suffer
8 - Wale foBite
Merry Christmas - keep your eyes posted for 2009, lot's more to come!

Basil Kirchin & John Coleman - The New Breed
Outstanding library record from the mighty DeWolfe label. Originally released in 1966, catalogue number DWLP 3019. Kirchin found fame writing scores for films such as The Abominable Dr Phibes but is mentioned by the artists as diverse as Brian Eno and Aphex Twin as the first true pioneer of tape manipulation and electronic sound processing. This album is more in a big band style where Kirchin's roots are - Track 1 is one of my all time favourites.

Don Rendell & Ian Carr - Shades of Blue
All time classic British jazz from 1964. Originally released on Columbia, catalogue number SX1733. Outstanding work from two of Britains unsung jazz heroes. Ian Carr went on to form the ground breaking jazz rock band Nucleus. One of the rare albums that I can play from start to finish without touching the needle.
Reissued on a double CD b/w Dusk Fire on Beat Goes On (2004) cat # 615
